The spring shouldn't.
When you steer, the strut and its lower perch turn with the wheel, and a spring wants to rotate a little as it compresses. Sitting straight on the perch, the spring gets dragged along until friction lets go and it snaps back.
With the adapter underneath, the perch turns on a bearing and the spring stays put.

Lock to lock, slow then quick. The strut turns the lower perch with the wheel.

The adapter stacks between the bottom of the spring and the coilover's adjustable lower perch. It adds 22 mm under the spring, so you need that much perch adjustment and clearance to spare.
